USC is home to the only pharmacy school that spans the entire spectrum of pharmaceutical development and clinical service - from drug discovery to regulatory approaches for safely moving drugs and medical devices to market, from the delivery of care in diverse settings to the evaluation of the impact of care on patient outcomes as well as health care costs. Our clinical faculty members are forging new paths and identifying best practices in a wide variety of care environments.
The school has received major grants from the National Institutes of Health for the development of significant discoveries in cancer, Alzheimer’s disease, and diabetes, and from the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation to ensure the safe and optimal use of medications and to develop innovations for enhancing patient outcomes while curtailing costs. The school offers pace-setting master’s degree programs that are equipping working professionals with new skills to excel in the changing marketplace. And our partnership in the USC Leonard D. Schaeffer Center for Health Policy and Economics is yielding evidence-based research that confirms the enduring value of pharmacists’ contributions to collaborative practice.
The USC School of Pharmacy is the only private pharmacy school on a major health sciences campus, putting our students in close proximity to four major hospitals.
Furthermore, USC School of Pharmacy students benefit from an extensive network of affiliates at some 300 sites and more than 400 volunteer faculty and preceptors, many of whom are USC School of Pharmacy alumni. The school also owns and operates four community pharmacies and a specialty pharmacy.
