Masters in Molecular Medicine Tulane University - School of Medicine

This is a full-time two-semester post-baccalaureate program leading to a Master of Science in Molecular Medicine. This program is designed to provide a solid foundation in human diseases and their molecular pathways for students considering applying to medical, dental, and other health-related professional schools. All courses in this program are taught by full-time faculty in the Tulane School of Medicine. The degree requirements of this program include 30 credit hours of coursework with a cumulative GPA ≥ 3.0. Although no thesis is required, students will prepare written assignments and oral presentations as part of the required coursework. Recipients of the MS in Molecular Medicine will demonstrate advanced knowledge in the molecular and cellular basis of disease and a basic understanding of biomedical research.

Admission Requirements

• A baccalaureate degree (BS or BA) with a GPA ≥ 3.0.
• MCAT scores of ≥ 500 (24) or,
  DAT scores ≥ 16 or,
  GRE scores ≥ 300.
• For applicants whose first language is not English, a TOEFL score ≥ 80 is required, but this requirement can be waived with a score ≥ 151 on the Verbal portion of the GRE or by having passed the ECFMG English Language Proficiency Examination.

Application Information

Students interested in pursuing an MS in Pathology apply online through the Biomedical Sciences (BMS) graduate program website choosing the MS in Molecular Medicine or the MS in Molecular and Cellular Pathobiology as their primary interest on the application form (non-refundable and non-transferable fee of $50).

Applications will be accepted until the application deadline (July for admission in the Fall semester) or until all positions are filled. Applications will be reviewed as they are received and applicants will be admitted on a competitive basis. Early submission is encouraged. Note that several programs at Tulane use this application service. Be certain that you designate one of the two programs in Pathology. Three reference letters will be solicited on your behalf after the names of your referees have been submitted to the online application system.

Tuition

$25,000 per year plus fees. There are no tuition waivers for this program.

Fees

Fees will be charged on a per semester basis.

Estimated mandatory fees are:

• Academic Support Services $500, entitles a student to use the supplementary services of the University libraries, academic support services, and online course material.
• Student Activities $120, supports activities organized by students such as the weekly newspaper, admission to many intercollegiate athletic contests, movies, and lectures.
• Reily Recreation Center $150, provides center membership.
• Student Health Services $320, provides students with primary care, psychiatric care, and contraceptive care at the Student Health Center.
• A fee of $40 will be assessed when applying for graduation.
• Tulane University policy requires that all students have health insurance coverage. This requirement can be met by subscribing to the Student Health Insurance Plan offered through the University, or by providing evidence of health insurance coverage.
