Introduction
The main objective of the specialization program in Nuclear Medicine of the Sanitas University Foundation is to train general practitioners who can work in the field of interpreting diagnostic studies and conducting therapies through the use of radioactive materials.
This specialty is built as the first program in our country with a design adjusted to the current needs of the practice of nuclear medicine since it is not derived from internal medicine or radiology, but rather trains specialists with a focus on nuclear physician, who is trained not only from the perspective of the clinician who submits the pertinent studies but also from the one who must receive training in CT, which is useful for the interpretation of fusion and PET / CT studies.
Likewise, the resident will be trained to face the novel practice of radionuclide therapy and the interpretation of PET / CT, which has a high potential for projection and development in the field of Medicine.
Additionally, and thinking about the demand for health services in the Colombian medical community, this program has been designed for general practitioners who are interested in the area of diagnostic support, in the field of images and therapies. The specialization gives the resident the option of training in the best nuclear medicine centers that have the technology and specific teachers for each rotation of the specialty.
