The Nurse Aide course prepares individuals to work in long-term care facilities (LTC) and hospitals. For acceptance into ADN and PN programs, the Nurse Aide course is required. The emphasis in the course is on students achieving a basic level of knowledge and demonstrating skills to provide safe, effective patient care. The course has been developed in six units of study. The theory portion includes 30 hours of classroom time and 15 hours of laboratory practice. The clinical experience includes 30 hours in a nursing facility. Entrance Requirements for Nurse Aide:
Must be 16 years or older.
High school diploma or GED/HSED. If currently in high school, a letter of acknowledgment from your high school counselor is required.
Strength and endurance to meet the requirements for performing skills such as lifting and moving residents.
Attendance is mandatory for an Orientation Session prior to the start of your class. If you do not attend the session, you will be withdrawn from the class. *Orientation is held one week prior to class start date. An informational letter will be mailed approximately 10 days prior to the orientation.*Note: Orientation dates are listed on the course schedule and are subject to change.
