Program Description
IMU is Malaysia’s first and most established private medical and healthcare university with over 26 years of dedicated focus in healthcare education. IMU achieved the SETARA-2017 Tier 6 status (Outstanding) under the Mature University category.
At IMU, you have the option to study the first two and a half years of the degree in IMU and transfer to one of its partner universities in Australia, UK, Ireland or Canada for completion of the medical programme. These international partnerships mean that the IMU curriculum has been developed to meet these universities’ high international standards. Students studying medicine in IMU also have the option to complete the entire degree in IMU.
Studying medicine in IMU will also provide you with a pathway to train and work in the United States with the incorporation of the USMLE Step 1 Preparatory Course into the IMU medical curriculum across Semesters 1 to 5. With this, our graduates have early preparation and are competent to sit for USMLE Step 1 examination that carves a path towards United States residency opportunities.

The International Medical University (IMU) is Malaysia’s first and most established private medical and healthcare university with over 24 years of dedicated focus in healthcare education. The University is the first university in Malaysia that offers conventional and complementary medicine, all under one roof. Established in 1992, the University enjoys an international reputation, and provides a high standard of education at undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing professional development level.
