Program Description
IMU is Malaysia’s first and most established private medical and healthcare university with over 26 years of dedicated focus in healthcare education. IMU achieved the SETARA-2017 Tier 6 status (Outstanding) under the Mature University category.
We have been educating and training pharmacy students since 2004. Our Pharmacy programme is a fully-accredited four-year pharmacy degree, with an option to transfer to our partner universities, namely to University of Otago, New Zealand or University of Tasmania, Australia.
This degree equips you for work in any pharmacy setting, from the hospital service and community practice to the pharmaceutical industry. As experts in medicine, pharmacists are taking on increasingly important roles and a crucial member of the integrated healthcare team.
The curriculum includes the life sciences presented in a body systems-based format, encompassing anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, pharmacology, microbiology, molecular biology, immunology and pathology. Organic, inorganic and medicinal chemistry form the basis of pharmaceutical chemistry. Pharmaceutical technology prepares students in drug formulation, delivery, clinical pharmacokinetics, management and marketing. Pharmacy practice explores the role of the pharmacist in clinical and community healthcare, and professionalism.

The International Medical University (IMU) is Malaysia’s first and most established private medical and healthcare university with over 24 years of dedicated focus in healthcare education. The University is the first university in Malaysia that offers conventional and complementary medicine, all under one roof. Established in 1992, the University enjoys an international reputation, and provides a high standard of education at undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing professional development level. IMU’s curriculum for its undergraduate programmes has been benchmarked to international standards and is accepted by international partner universities for credit transfer into relevant programmes.
