Program Description
IMU is Malaysia’s first and most established private medical and healthcare university with over 26 years of dedicated focus in healthcare education. IMU achieved the SETARA-2017 Tier 6 status (Outstanding) under the Mature University category.
The IMU Bachelor of Nursing is a 4-year full-time programme which prepares a student to become a registered nurse, qualified to practice in a variety of settings in either the public or private healthcare sectors. After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Nursing, the graduate can choose to work as a registered nurse or pursue an advanced diploma or post basic specialisation in maternity, orthopaedic, critical care nursing, renal nursing, perioperative nursing, community nursing, gerontology nursing and more. Graduates can also choose to further their studies at the masters and doctoral (PhD) level.
Nursing is a unique profession, now more broadly defined as both an art and a science. In today’s challenging healthcare environment, the qualified, professional nurse combines knowledge (theory), skill (practice), creativity and intuition to tend the sick, comfort the grieving and support the desolate.
A Nursing graduate registered with the Nursing Board Malaysia receives high recognition locally and overseas. There is a great demand for nurses in Malaysia and in other countries hence more nurses need to be trained to cater for the shortage of nurses globally.
